One GREAT Holiday Self Care Practice

Hi everyone,

Great to be back for another week of sharing with you all. I would imagine that everyone is or has been experiencing some digestive murmurs from the big turkey dinner festivity and coming up is Hannukah and Christmas. No doubt we might be eating more food than usual or indulging in foods we regularly don’t eat. For me, it’s been that wonderful hot chocolate with whipped cream I save for this time of year and some fried potato pancakes, a staple of  the Hannukah tradition coming up. Thanksgiving stays under control for the most part for me. Although I did try a shot of caramel shnops at the end which was way good.

But nevertheless, it’s cold, we are probably eating more mac and cheese than last season, or extra fats to keep us warm. All good. This is natural in winter.  Since you know I like to come from a nurturing place, not denial, I am sharing with you One GREAT Holiday Self Care Practice- Ayurveda’s Digestive Tea.

As you can see from the picture I already got a head start- please join me in this daily ritual and let’s think of each other as we sip our tea! I’ve been making a pot a day and drinking it throughout the day. The recipe is easy:

IMG_17772 parts fennel seeds (2 Tbsp)

  • Reduce Water Retention
  • Fennel Tea for Constipation, Indigestion, IBS & Bloating
  • Fennel Seeds Reduce Asthma Symptoms
  • Helps Purify Blood
  • Improves Eyesight

1 part cumin seeds  ( 1 Tbsp)

  • Promotes Digestion. The most common traditional use of cumin is for indigestion.
  • Is a Rich Source of Iron.
  • Contains Beneficial Plant Compounds.
  • May Help With Diabetes.
  • May Improve Blood Cholesterol.
  • May Promote Weight Loss and Fat Reduction.
  • May Prevent Food-Borne Illnesses.

1 part coriander seeds ( 1 Tbsp)

 Benefits:

Coriander seeds have numerous key vitamins like folic acid, vitamin A and beta-carotene, and most importantly, vitamin C. According to Madhavi Rathod of Vedic Healing, coriander leaves and seeds contain nearly 30% of the everyday suggested measure of vitamin C, which helps in curing cold and flu.

10 cups water

Bring all ingredients to boil then simmer for 15 minutes- strain. I purchased the ingredients at the Dekalb Market in Decatur. I like to keep it in a carafe and drink all day. My husband likes it too.

I hope you find this daily ritual a kind and loving way of supporting your body to digest all the good foods you will be partaking in. And who knows you might want to share some with your friends and family! I sure hope you do.

with fierce love,

Gedalia
