How Does Stress and Anxiety Impact Your Digestion

Stress and anxiety can significantly impact your digestive system. Here’s how:

1. When stress is activated it can cause your esophagus to spasm. This can lead to difficulty swallowing.

2. Stress can ramp up stomach acid in your stomach, resulting in indigestion and heartburn.

3. Feeling anxious can trigger nausea, disrupting normal bowel movements.

4. Stress can lead to diarrhea and constipation.

5. Stress can lead to high blood pressure and increased blood sugar.

Addressing emotional well-being is key to bridging body/mind. In more than twenty years of working with women, I’ve found that grief, loss, stress, and anxiety are almost always the genesis of the obstacle.

Honor your feelings by journaling or writing a letter you don’t send to someone. Have a good cry. Take a walk in nature and remind yourself of the bigger picture. Empty your mind through creativity, music, sound healing, and Marma. Focus on YOUR-SELF!
