The Joy of Self Care
Most people don’t find joy in self-care. The sense of well-being is not a priority unless something hits the breaking point. Even then the majority of the population relies on medications, treating symptoms and not focusing on themselves. What else is more important and of value?
Self-care is essential for maintaining overall well-being. And acknowledging the joy and self worth that is inherent in your being is also essential in the process.
Here are some ways to infuse joy into your self-care practices:
1. Practice gratitude. On the days when you feel off and don’t know why remind yourself of the things you feel grateful for. Write them down at night before going to bed to replay them in your mind.
Even on the days you feel on this practice keeps the joy flowing.
2. Prioritize hobbies. Engage in activities that spark your creativity and bring you joy. Whether it’s gardening, cooking, baking, arranging the flowers on your table, the colors you choose to wear, singing, journaling, taking photos, redesigning a room, or playing a musical instrument, hobbies can rejuvenate your spirit.
3. Look for daily moments of joy. Pay attention to the birds singing, the smells of the flowers as you go on your daily walk, the majesty of the trees, or the way the clouds are moving in the sky, laughing at funny moments.
These little joys add up and contribute to your overall sense of well-being.
Remember, self-care is about nourishing your physical, emotional, and mental health. Find what works best for you, and prioritize those things that bring you pleasure and rejuvenation!
You are so worthy.
